Lady Cougars Sweep SM North and Prepare for Rematch!

Posted on February 26, 2012 at 4:00 PM

The Lady Cougars swept SM North for the second time this season with all 3 SMNW teams winning. The Freshmen and Sophomore teams were forced to combine their teams because SM North did not have enough players for separate Freshman and Sophomore teams. The combined forces of Lady Cougar Freshmen and Sophomores proved to be up to the task winning 36 to 16.

The Freshmen squad led by Coach Jim Ratzlaff had an outstanding season going 16-1. The team showed heart and courage all season long and even as players got moved up to varsity, these Lady Cougars kept improving and kept winning!

The Sophomore team led by Coach Ken Summers also had an outstanding season finishing 14-4. The best sophomore record in many years!!!

The JV Lady Cougars led by Coach Rachel Taege and Coach Erin Barnett finished 14-3 despite being one of the youngest teams in the Sunflower League.

Just an amazing and outstanding job done by these coaches and young ladies! Exciting things are coming for all of these terrific and hard working Lady Cougars!!

The Varsity finished the regular season 14-6 and the Shawnee Dispatch has had some great articles to share about SMNW. Please click below to go to their website and check them out!!
